Cirque Éloize Announces the Return of RAIN to Montréal

Montréal, September 14, 2011 –Cirque Éloize is pleased to announce the highly anticipated return to Montréal of RAIN – Comme une pluie dans tes yeux, written and directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca. World acclaimed in 178 cities in 20 countries and soon performed for over 750 000 spectators, RAIN has been described by the Le Monde newspaper as “A shower of enjoyment unleashed from the heavens”. RAIN will be presented at the Monument-National starting on December 6th, with a series of performances given during the holidays.

Set in a theatre, where a circus troupe is practicing for an upcoming show, RAIN blurs the line between roles and reality. Looks passed between the protagonists—hailing from a bygone era— reveal love affairs, secret passions and glimpses of intimacy. The original show touches on childhood, freedom and family through a dazzling combination of contemporary circus arts, theatre, music and dance. RAIN features twelve performers from the four corners of the globe, each playing a character they themselves have created, thus revealing their sensitivity and fragility. The show’s media premiere will take place on Wednesday, December 7 at 8:00 p.m.

RAIN also features an original score by Maria Bonzanigo and Lucie Cauchon, costume design by Mérédith Caron, set design by Guillaume Lord and lighting by Martin Labrecque.

RAIN – Comme une pluie dans tes yeux is presented in collaboration with Radio-Canada and La Presse.

“Rain, the show […] is accessible and plays to all the senses. Simply sublime!”
DE VOLKSKRANT, Zaandam   (Holland)

“Wild, witty, wet and altogether winning. A literal and figurative splash! […] Two hours of pure pleasure for people of all ages.”
– NEW YORK TIMES, New York (USA)

“(…) creativity, boundless imagination.”
– LA PRESSE, Montréal (Canada)

“While this show’s artistic inspiration shines brightly from beginning to end, the finale is simply unforgettable.”
– LA TIMES, Irvine, California (USA)
