Cirque Éloize’s iD Show Tours Japan

Tonight, Cirque Éloize begins its first tour of Japan. Over the next two months, the show iD will be presented in Tokyo, Fukuoka, Nagoya and Osaka. Cirque Éloize made a first foray into the land of the rising sun in 2002 with Cirque Orchestra, which performed in Tokyo.

This series of performances are of special significance to Jeannot Painchaud, Cirque Éloize’s president and artistic director. “In 1992, I was part of Cirque du Soleil’s first Japanese tour. I remember it as highly fascinating and quite entrancing. At the time, the idea of creating Cirque Éloize had already begun to take shape and this trip served to confirm it. That same year, we founded Cirque Éloize. So we are delighted, some twenty years later, to be invited to Japan by a company as prestigious as Fuji Television.”

Nearly 50 performances are scheduled as part of this commercial agreement, and on the eve of the Japanese Premiere, more than half of the tickets have already been sold.

The beginning of 2013 was marked by a series of 20 performances of iD at the Grand Rex theatre in Paris. Over the past two years, the show was attended by more than 60,000 spectators during the troupe’s three series of shows in the City of Lights.
